Monastery of St.Nikolaoy,Porto-Lagos

The Monastery is built on two islands which are connected to each other by a wooden footbridge. On one islet is the church of Agios Nikolaos and on the other is the church of Panagia Pantanassa where there is also a copy of her miraculous icon where many sick people and their families come and ask for healing. The original is in the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi.

Nestos river

During its long journey, it forms landscapes of unique beauty with rich forests, rare wetlands and impressive geological formations. Undoubtedly, the best part of the river is the Straits of Nestos, also called Thracian Tempi. A true monument of nature, also characterized as an “Aesthetic Forest”, is the area of ​​23,800 hectares, which is part of the Natura 2000 Network and is included in the Ramsar Convention for Wetlands of International Importance.

The Clock Tower of Xanthi

The Clock of Xanthi located in the central square is definitely the trademark of the city and stands out for its architecture as well as its history. The Clock Tower was built in 1859 and still stands today despite the historical changes in the area, the wars and the hardships the city faced, and it has now been designated as a monument.
